Friday night... met Dan Maki at the Monkey for a couple beers. Nice to just sit around and chat. It's been too long since I've done that. Got home, read a little and hit the hay. Nice to get to bed early. Saturday morning I was up by 5 am. Worked on the Death Star in preparation for it's sale to Todd Duane. Removing files, zapping applications and just making sure the security is setup for Todd. Left home about 7:30 am to participate in a marketing competition at Oregon High School. I was a judge and it was really fun. The kids I was judging had to market a new video game to replace or update Guitar Hero. The kids came up with "Non-stop Pop, Rap Riot, Country Hoe Down" to name a few. Very interesting exercise and a lot of fun. I would do it again in a minute. Left Oregon and headed for home. On the way Todd called and wanted to make the computer exchange. Cool... did it. After that we headed to Arianna's soccer game. 9-2 loss for her team, but she scored and played well. A little tentative, but she has a blast and I had fun watching. From there it was over to Jenny and Brad's for dinner club. Good hearty Beef Stew meal. While we ate I was able to watch the Badger hockey team slowly, but surely lose to CC. I didn't like it, but life goes on. I left midway through the meal to go play hockey. I had a good game (pickup hockey) scoring a goal and making several nice passes. Good game, not great, but good. Progress is definitely being made. Sunday was more running. Up at about 9 am, cleaned up the house, packed up for our trip to the Khan Mansion, got ready to go see "Paul Blart: Mall Cop." Good movie. Not quite as funny as I'd hoped, but a better story. Hate to say it, but it's a only a rental worthy film. Headed from there directly to soccer. Got there just in time to change and warmup. Arianna plays on a mixed team and it's a lot more fun to watch than just the girls action. So much faster with the boys on the field. Ari's team lost, but she scored again (the only goal for her team). I am so proud. Left to head to Portage for the Monday festivities and boy did we have fun. : ( What a debacle to pickup Arianna's snow pants and stuff. We arrived to a very nice dinner, watched some football (how about those Cards?) and just kicked back. Yesterday we slept in a little then went to Cascade Ski Mountain to try their tubing hill. It was fun, but not quite the experience we had skiing last year. The tubes go really fast down the hill as it's very icy and they actually sit in this saucer like device (http://tubeproinc.com/) which helps. Lots more fun for smaller kids who aren't yet ready to ski or snowboard. After that we headed to the Tanger Outlet Mall to the Disney Store (only one in Wisconsin I think), did a little shopping and headed home. By the time we got home last night we were both beat. Got to bed early, but still feeling a little worn out. Good weekend, but hopefully things will be a little slower this week. |
