Fitness Challenge: Day 1 PDF Print E-mail

Today is the first day of the rest of my life.  I'm bound and determined to turn things around.  Well, maybe my life doesn't need to be turned around, but I'm ready to move from the raw stage to the finishing stage.

Biked this morning although not far.  Parked by Schoep's as I don't want to get too tired biking (other activities on the agenda) and I was carrying a bike pump as I'm about to go change my the tires on my X0-1.

Skated with Jody at lunch.  Kind of a rough skate.  I'm getting more control with the outside edge of my right foot, but my shooting sucked.  I need to be better at not looking at the puck too.  More stick handling tonight.

LANCE IS BACK! PDF Print E-mail

Lance's Statement from the LIVESTONG website:

September 9, 2008 – Today, Lance Armstrong, cancer survivor, founder and chairman of the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) and cycling champion, released the following statement regarding his return to professional sports:

photo of Lance Armstrong“I am happy to announce that after talking with my children, my family and my closest friends, I have decided to return to professional cycling in order to raise awareness of the global cancer burden. This year alone, nearly eight million people will die of cancer worldwide. Millions more will suffer in isolation, victims not only of the disease but of social stigma. After the passage of Proposition 15 in Texas, a $3 billion investment in the fight against cancer which is helping to make this disease part of the national dialogue in America, it’s now time to address cancer on a global level.”

Mr. Armstrong will discuss his cycling program and an international LIVESTRONG strategy on September 24th in New York City at the Clinton Global Initiative.

Richard Zednik: The MJ of Hockey? PDF Print E-mail

You may remember Richard Zednik once nearly got decapitated by a skate. Well, forget that now. Zednik will since be known as the guy who hurdled Brendan Witt to score this incredibly impressive goal against the Islanders.

Some people are saying this is the goal of the year, but I'm not sure it's that great. I mean, it's still really good, but Zednik probably needed to jump through a ring of fire for it to be goal of the year.

Saturday Night Hockey PDF Print E-mail
photo of the Hanson BrothersI played pickup hockey on Saturday night with Kevin Wagner's group.  Lots of guys from the BHL so familiar faces.  It's amazing how much more comfortable I feel with the puck.  It seems as though a few practices sessions at Tenney Park was all I needed.  I've had Arianna flick some passes my way when we've been there and it's really helped.  Honestly, it's almost hard to believe what a difference a few hours alone has done for me, but I don't know what else to say.  Amazing how much my game has improved.
